Wedding Cake

Don't... Just don't.

We froze the top of our wedding cake for a year and then ate a piece last night. The inside of the cake was not too bad. But I tried the icing and nearly threw up.

Here's what we did wrong:

We wrapped the cake in tin foil and froze it thus allowing the cake to absorb every smell and taste from the freezer for an entire year.

What we should have done was cut a piece of cake, froze it overnight to get it hard and then used the food saver to vacuum seal it for the year. At least that would not have made me almost wretch.

Photo-A-Day #583 11/12/06

Today is our one-year Anniversary. Allison and I wet to Café Loco this morning for breakfast. Allison got the Long Boat Key Omelet. It was an omelet with cheese, bacon and avocado. I had a Michael Muffin, which was a great egg and cheese and bacon sandwich on a thick English muffin. The breakfast was fantastic. We also picked up two Revel bars on the way out and Allison got another Half and Half and I got an all natural orange soda. Revel bars are chocolate and oatmeal bars that are fantastic. We snacked on that on the way to Manchester.

We had Anniversary lunch with Marcia at Cactus Jacks. Lunch was very tasty. I had a Black Jack Burger and Allison got a burrito. Marcia got a buffalo chicken sandwich without the buffalo. As we had lunch we kept getting comments from a feisty old lady in the booth across from us. We said something about being from Massachusetts and she piped up, “Don’t say anything bad about Massachusetts.” Allison and Marcia enjoyed chatting with her. They love feisty old ladies.

The weather was terrible so our ride home was long, but we made it home and unpacked and got everything back in the house. Back to reality tomorrow.

Oh and we are going to try a slice of our wedding cake later tonight.

Photo-A-Day #582 11/11/06

Today Allison and I ended up waking up early, however we slept for about 10 hours. The air up here made us tired as my mom would say. We puttered around the house a little bit and then headed over to Stuart and John’s Sugar Shack for some pancakes and waffles. The place is very rustic and down home. They only serve Pancakes, French toast and Waffles, no egg dishes. However they do serve bacon and sausage. I would steer clear of the bacon, it is sub-par, but the sausage is fantastic and it is homemade. The sausages are thick patties that are lightly seasoned and full of flavor. The syrup is served warm and the waffles have real strawberries.

After that we drove by a farm and stopped to take some cow pictures. We then turned the corner and two of the cutest goats ever were by the side of the road. Allison isn’t a huge fan of goats because of the square pupils. But these were very cute. I gave Allison the camera and she got a couple of shots.

We headed to Alyson’s Orchard to get some apples for the Thanksgiving apple pie that Allison is making. Alyson’s Orchard is a really nice place; we are here during the off-season because all of the trees were empty of fruit. However they did have large containers of apples under a tarp, about a dozen different varieties. We paid for a peck and mixed and matched apples. The picking of a peck and paying for said peck was on the honor system as no one was there manning the store. We walked around and looked at the metal animal sculptures around the property. We found the Giraffe, Teddy McIntosh the bear, an owl and a blue heron by Lily’s pond.

Then we drove through the town of Walpole but didn’t find any place in particular that we wanted to stop at so we kept driving. We drove up Route 5 North for a bit, didn’t find what we were looking for and so turned around and headed up 103. We stopped at the Vermont Country Store and picked up a Habanero Pineapple Jelly/Sauce that we will put over cream cheese for a snack some night. We also tried a variety of sauces and jellys and cheeses and decided on picking up a couple of small 8oz wheels of an extra sharp cheddar made by the Grafton Village Cheese Company. One we will keep and one we are leaving at the house for Thanksgiving.

We headed back through Bellows Falls going Route 5 South and we found the place we were looking for, Harlow Farms and Café Loco. It was still a bit early for lunch so we made a loop and went back to the house to put the cheese in the refrigerator. We regrouped and got some water then headed back out. We went over to Café Loco, for lunch. Tara gave us lunch at Café Loco for our Anniversary. Café Loco is a cute little pace with an alligator theme. It is attached to the farm stand and it is very laid back. The owner Michael Lennox created the mood as well as the menu, which is influenced by his native South Florida.

We ordered from the Specials board. I had a delicious pulled pork sandwich. The roll was a nice firm, but not tough or hard, crusty roll, and it was served with a pickle. Allison got the citrus chicken salad, grilled chicken served on a bed of greens with dried cranberries, nuts and coconut tossed with a cranberry vinagrette. She also got a Half and Half to drink, half Iced Tea and half organic homemade Lemonade. We sat out on the porch because the day was so beautiful. When we were done we brought in our dishes and Michael wrote us up a slip for the meal and we were free to walk around the farm stand and make other purchases. We picked up a small baguette as well as some 4-year-old aged sharp cheddar cheese. We saw some 4 year old sharp cheddar at the Vermont Country store but it was very expensive, it was much more reasonable at Harlow Farms. So we got that some bread and butter pickles for Allison and some salsa that we are leaving at the house for Thanksgiving as well.

After that we walked around Bellows Falls and browsed the bookstore. They were having a local author read from her book of poetry but we really weren’t that interested so we continued on and popped into a few more shops. We went over to the Vermont Pretzel and Cookie for a snack. I got their cowboy cookie, a hearty chocolate chip and Allison got a hot pretzel. The pretzels are delicious and they make sandwiches on the pretzels as well, so we will have to come back another time.

So after that we went back to the house, Allison laid down for a nap and I took my camera over to the bridge to take a few more pictures. I didn’t get many I liked so I came back read a little, napped a little and did a little work on the Marketing Day videos. I went out and picked up a bottle of wine for another night of Wine and cheese for dinner. But this time we have a small baguette to share as well. So it will probably be another early night for us. And we have really been enjoying the opportunity to sleep without interruption from the cats.

Photo-A-Day #581 11/10/06

Today Allison and I headed to New Hampshire to visit with Dan and Marcia. We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and picked up some Kettle Corn to take with us on our trip. We are spending the weekend at Tara and Erik’s place in New Hampshire. It is a beautiful little two family that they have fixed up with the help of my Dad. He installed 35 new windows including a very unique one on the third floor. I hadn’t been here since I went to demonstrate up in Northern New York. That was shortly after the house was purchased. The windows were delivered but not all installed at that point. I helped Dad bring a bunch upstairs. The windows and all the paint and the decorations have made quite the difference. The place looks great.

Before we got to the house we stopped to visit with Dan and Marcia We picked up some of the wedding gifts that we had in their cellar. We had to pick them up to take them home because Dan got a job with Citrix. Citrix is what I use all the time to connect back to work for my demonstrations. Citrix is also located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A move is coming so we must move out any of our stuff. It is very exciting as well as hard on everyone, but exciting as well. We are very happy for Dan and Marcia and look forward to visiting them down in Florida. But that doesn’t mean that we aren’t sad that they are going to be moving away either.

So we picked up our Longaberger dishware that was in the basement along with a few other things. Then the four of us went to the Santa Fe Smokehouse in Manchester to have lunch. Dan and I had BBQ Steak and Cheese sandwiches. They used beef brisket and BBQ sauce with melted cheese on a sub roll to make the sandwich. It was very tasty.

After lunch we headed out to Walpole NH. We found the house no problem and we saw a few places that we want to go to tomorrow. Like Alyson’s Orchard as well as Stuart and John’s for breakfast. But the sun was setting and we were dead tired. We picked up some cheese and crackers from Shaws and had a wonderful bottle of wine that Uncle Wayne and Aunt Cindy gave us for our wedding. My cousin Scott made the wine label from our wedding invitations. We have a second bottle that we will save for another big anniversary. The wine was wonderful. The cheese was Jack and the crackers were butterfly, a perfect evening for us to exchange our gifts to each other.

Allison was tricky. She gets very excited when she buys someone a gift and wants to give it to the person right away. I like to do the gift thing on the day when the gift is traditionally exchanged. So last week we were having dinner and Allison was all excited because she got me the perfect gift. She wanted to give it to me and I said no. She said, “What if we got each other the same gift?” I said something like, “What, did you name a star after me or something?” Then she got really pissed and left the room. I thought, “Oh, no I ruined her gift.” Then I thought, “A star, what a scam, now I have to pretend to like this thing. I know I have said in the past that they were a scam and a waste of money, I can’t believe she got me a star.”

Well, Allison knows me better than that and thankfully did not waste her money to name a star after me. She got me tickets to see William Peterson (Grissom from CSI) in a play at Trinity Rep on New Year’s Eve. The play is called Dublin Carol. We are going to have a meal at Fire and Ice beforehand and then hit the play. Should be a great time. She done good! That was a perfect gift for me and stayed with the tradition of paper, since they were tickets.

For Allison I contacted our friend Wes Molebash about two months ago to commission a custom comic strip for us. I know that Allison got me one for our wedding and I wanted to complement that on our first anniversary. He sent us the original artwork as well as the color version. We are going to frame both the color and the original artwork. Wes did a great job, Wes and I e-mailed each other back and forth with the dialogue, and he came up with the joke. I also got Allison three prints of some of our favorite strips.

Lazy Day

The Cat tried to Murder me

No Farting

We are certainly glad that we found Wes and his work. His comic strip is a part of our daily life and we are so proud to display the artwork, that he has created, in our home.

Tara’s house is perfect for sleeping; we ended up falling asleep early and waking up 10 hours later. 10 hours, that has not happened since college days.

Spiderman 3 Trailer

Did you see it last night after CSI? The newest Spiderman 3 trailer is out. There was a heck of alot of stuff in this trailer. Pretty much gives the story of the movie. Allison and I were very attentive to the trailer and when it was over she turned to me with wild eyes and said. "I don't want to see that!" Which of course means that if I go and see it while on the road I am a dead man.

Spiderman 3 Trailer.

More posts when we return.

Thursday Night Comedy & CSI Hs/Ss 11/09/06

Last night we couldn't stop laughing from 8-9. Here's what I have to say, Allison will add her thoughts later, probably after the weekend. I'm a little late, but here are my thoughts!

My Name is Earl - So the Crab Man wasn't always the Crab Man. What I loved about the episode. Randy asking if Mr. Turtle was in the Witness Protection program too. Crab Man living with Earl and Randy. Randy in general. The holes in the trailer. Nickels. Earl and the small suit. Earl mimicking Catalina. I really like the group getting more exposure. The Crab Man talking about the mix up in the Witness Protection Program.

My Name is Earl - This was a great episode. I really like the Crab Man. It was great to see that he has an interesting history, even if we don't know it. Randy was hysterical. I love that he called in to report that the man on the billboard was Crab Man. He's too funny!

The Office - Future Dwight. That opening scene had me and Allison rolling with laughter. Jim is so funny and next week he heads back to Scranton. Glad he's coming back. I liked the storyline with him in CT. Jim talking about the office closing. Magic Beans. Ryan's plight. Kelly's mascara streaks. Kevin's, "Awesome!" This was one of the best episodes this entire season. I love that next week Jim and that girl from CT (not sure of her name) are heading to Scranton. Now Jim is going to be above Dwight. That will make for some great scenes between the two of them. I love the stuff that Jim has been doing from CT but to have he and Dwight interact again will be great. The upcoming love square between Roy, Pam, Jim and new girl is going to be fun, and probably heartbreaking. I just keep seeing better and better from this show.

The Office - YEAH!!! Jim is coming back!!!!! I am so excited. Jim and Dwight in the same office again! And it sounds like Jim will get a promotion to a position over Dwight - this only means that hilarity will ensue!! Yeah Jim is back!
Oh yeah - Future Dwight??? BRILLIANT!!!

CSI - This episode served to move along two of the underlying storylines this season. First the miniature crime scene model making serial killer is back. But this time things didn't go as planned when the actual murder occurred. So the model was not at the crime scene. M.M.S.K. had to change the model to fit the actual events. Second there was an inquiry on Greg because of the boy that died the night Greg was attacked. The family maintains that D.J. (the boy) was not part of the gang and he was a good person.

Some of the best parts from last night. Grissom's opening line before the intro song. Not a snappy line that makes light of the dead, but rather acknowledged that the victim was a person. Hodges dancing to "Word Up." Hodges and Grissom looking at the model. I don't like Hodges to much but sometimes his scenes are pretty good. Nick on the stand kicking butt and saying exactly what was on his mind. Greg's trouble with the whole thing. Greg on the witness stand totally smacking down the possibility of alcohol imparing his judgement. that kicked. I like Greg because he is an accessible character and can be easily identified with. Warrick and Stokes helping Greg out by recreating what happened. D.J. Qualls guest starring. This was a good episode to move along those storylines, neither of which are complete. I see the little brother trying to get revenge at some point. We shall see.

CSI - This was a great episode. I hated the flashbacks to Greg's attacks, because I hate that kind of violence, but the episode was great. I like the serial killer storyline.

Photographic evidence of the boys getting along. Or at least tolerating each other. They actually look like they split the couch, Oliver got the bigger half too.

We've headed North for a weekend away to celebrate our 1st Anniversay this Sunday. I will have no Internet access that I know of so Photo-A-Day will be back up on Monday. If the pictures come back sooner, bonus.

Man I hope these little buggers don't pee on the couch again.

Wednesday's TV Recap 11/08/06

Bones - A very good episode tonight. Booth and Bones in Las Vegas. They investigated an underground fighting ring. Bones was extremely lucky in Vegas and Booth is a recovering gambler. It made for some interesting situations. Bones counting cards and not realizing that that was a bad thing. Booth ending up in the fighting ring. Seeing David Boreanaz in his Vegas high roller garb was a riot. The persona of Roxanne. The punch from Zach, priceless.

Bones - Drew is right, this was a great episode. While I really hate fighting and was pretty grossed out by those scenes, it was good to see David Boreanaz in a physical role (and the undershirt!) again. I was pretty impressed with Brennan's (Bones) acting abilities - not bad for an anthropologist!

Lost - What a cliffhanger. February 7, 2007 starts the next set of episodes and there will be 16 back to back with no repeats in between. Nathan Fillion guest starring as Kate's husband. Is it me or does he end up drugged by a beautiful woman in all his shows. It was good to see him back on TV too. This past week we have seen 3 members of the Serenity crew doing guest star roles. Alan Tudyk on CSI, Nathan Fillion on Lost and Morena Baccarin on How I Met Your Mother. Don't forget that Gina Torres is in a series, Standoff. Now if we could get them all back together on the Serenity that would be great. There have been tons of commercials for the show that will replace Lost for the time being, Daybreak. And it looks like another Firefly Alum will be on that show, Adam Baldwin. Back to Lost... What did Locke realize from the prayer stick? Who is Jacob? What is Alex's role? What will happen with Sawyer, Jack, Kate? The ending was such a great cliffhanger. Can't wait for February 7, 2007

Lost - Great cliffhanger is right! I don't usually yell at the tv (my brother inherited that trait from our dad, it skipped me), but I was yelling some not nice things at the end of the episode last night - I have to wait until February to find out what happens?? Are you serious? February? I think the network is a little messed up with this new set up.

Oh, and Drew forgot to mention another Serenity alum who is on TV now - Tamara Taylor is on Bones these days (and made an appearance on two episodes of LOST). I know she's not a Firefly/Serenity character, but she was in Serenity and was great.

The Nine - This show is losing me. I'm not that invested in the characters. I spent last night writing the first two recaps while I semi watched this show. I do like Egan but he is becoming annyoing as Nick's houseguest. He's got to get out there and do something.

The Nine - I am still enjoying this show. I think that last night's episode wasn't one of their strongest, but it was interesting none-the-less. I missed some bits because I was busy making our lunches for today, but I think that we learned some interesting things about some of the characters and their relationships. I'm really curious as to why Lucas made such a big deal about Randall not finding out that Lizzie was pregnant. This show still has me.

Holiday Cakes, yummy...

I found this site with some old-fashioned cakes that would be great additions to your holiday celebration. You can buy some tasty Thanksgiving Treats including the Brandy Pumpkin Cake and the Bourbon Pecan Cake. Both of these cakes look so delicious. A tasty treat to add to the dessert menu on your holiday table, just serve with eggnog and enjoy these fantastically decadent cakes.

Photo-A-Day #579 11/08/06

So this is my display at the Staff Art show. It is not exactly set up the way I wanted it to be, and they stuck some photos below the pictures. So the strip below my pictures is some random shots of last year's show. Today I was working on the Marketing Day video and I spoofed myself for an into PSA. Myself and the other director/cameraman/editor made a PSA like the ones before a movie. No smoking, no talking, no cell phones. But we start the video with me looking at the photos and then Ken comes up and says, hey what are you looking at. I say, oh just some guy who has way too much time on his hands. If you can't laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at.

Broadcast, nope, Braincast, yes...

A new free service called BrainCast has come across my radar. With BrainCast you can call a toll free number to record messages on your cell phone. Then the messages will go right to your e-mail. You sign into your e-mail and can go right to that message on BrainCast. Once on BrainCast you can label your messages for easy organization, you can add notes to the messages so that you can look at the notes to know exactly what the message was about. Maybe you don’t have a voice recorder; maybe you need to remember a joke, an anniversary or anything really. With BrainCast you can simply call the 800 number and leave yourself that message. Sounds pretty interesting, I will probably set myself up with a BrainCast account very soon.

Which is the real logo?

Do you know Which is the real logo? This is a pretty difficult quiz. You might think it is easy because you see these logos all the time but it is pretty difficult. I only got a 31% and I use these sites all the time.

Download Christmas Song for Charity...

Greener recorded a Christmas song last year and had it downloaded over 100,000 times. This year they would like to increase that number. A portion of the sales of Greener's Christmas Songs will go to benefit LIFEbeat. LIFEbeat is dedicated to reaching America's youth with the message of HIV/AIDS prevention. LIFEbeat mobilizes the talents and resources of the music industry to raise awareness and to provide support to the AIDS community. Download Greener's" Christmas Song. The site has a clip of the electric and the acoustic versions. They are both pretty good but I lean toward the acoustic myself.

Standoff Tuesday Hs/Ss 11/07/06

Standoff - I like this show a lot. I like the dynamic between the two main characters and it has Gina Torres (Zoe from Firefly and Serenity) in the cast. Ron Livingston plays Matt Flannery, one of the top crisis negotiators in LA. Rosemarie DeWitt plays Emily Lehman, Livingston's love interest as well as his partner. The two are the people who are called in when a hostage situation is happening. They are a great team. Matt really connects with the people he is negotiating with while Emily is so quick and smart and she does a lot of the behind the scenes theorizing to back Matt up. The team also includes Frank, head of a SWAT team, Lia computer expert, Duff member of the swat team and Cheryl the Supervisor Special Agent in Charge. Matt and Cheryl used to be partners, I think maybe more at one time. So in addition to negotiating with kidnappers, extremists and snipers these folks have to negotiate with their own relationships.

I heard a complaint that the negotiation got wrapped up on one episode so quickly. Well Duh! It is a TV show. I like it for the characters and not so much for the accuracy of the situations. It is a very entertaining show and I suggest you give it a try.

Last week's episode built some good character backstory on Matt, and this week touched on a little more. This show has had me hooked form the first episode.

Standoff - This is a great show. It has Gina Torres, does it need anything more? Seriously though, this show is great - with the right amount of suspense, action, tension and humor. It's a really interesting concept following the negotiators through their crisis.

Last night's episode was interesting - I enjoyed the cooperation between the FBI (the agency highlighted in the show) and the Los Angeles Police Department while they searched for the sniper and baited him into conversation with hostage negotiators.

I also love how the relationship between Flannery & Lehman isn't cheesy or overly dramatic. In fact, they have hardly have any physical contact on the show since an episode early in the series where they began their relationship. It's clear that they care about each other, but it's not an in your face relationship that they are forcing down our throats. I like that. I really like the characters.

Today is election day. Did you go and vote? The signs in the picture and thoughts expressed are those of the sign waves and not necessarily those of me. Ask anyone I don't talk politics. I absolutely can't stand discussing it.

Busy day today. I gave a demo to a site from Spain. I was one of two non Spanish Speakers in the room. I thought that maybe I could show them some of my Spanish Vocab projects from High School but then thought better of that. Besides Rondi still has my only copy of the best Spanish Vocab video ever. I do have to say that was the best part about the Spanish classes, making up weird skits with Scott and Andy. We used fireworks, shaving cream and a tea kettle of water. We had aliens, a hotel and a shoe store. Yep, we ran the gamut.

Handy with the tools...

It has to have been about ten years ago now when Dad and I remodeled a house on the Cape. This house was on a beautiful spot, right on a small lake. The problem was that the house was a sty and we had to clean it up and fix it up. I was part of the Demolition / Disposal crew and got pretty handy with a sledgehammer. The project took all summer and beyond but I learned alot from that project.

One thing we found in the walls were some dead mice. So the smell was pretty gross and at one point my sister was throwing a piece of the wall into the dumpster and the force of the wall hitting something in the dumpster send a flattened furry projectile right at her, it was a flattened dead mouse. We had a laugh at that one, but I think it probably was pretty traumatic.

Once the place was cleared out we set about putting in new Windows and Doors and we built a great big deck that ran the length of the house and we spent many days Painting.

In the end the house came out fantastic and the homeowner sure was glad that she used us to do the job.

If you are looking for some work done on your place you should take a look at Local Contractor Services in your area.

Monday Night TV recap Hs/Ss 11/06/06

How I Met Your Mother - Marshall and Lily back together, great stuff. I loved the Swarly joke. That was great getting the better of Barney. He got so upset, that was so funny. The flashbacks of the 'crazy eyes' girlfriends was great.

How I Met Your Mother - I was jumping up and down in my chair over Lily and Marshall. I love them together. And Swarly was just hysterical!

The Class - I like the relationship between Ethan and Kat. Richie and Lina is strange. Is Sarah Gilbert his wife, his girlfriend? Who is she? What is up with Duncan and the bar skank? Poor form, Duncan.

The Class - I love Ethan & Kat's friendship. She's really loosening him up. I'm really sad that Richie is very obviously cheating on someone, because I love his character and his relationship with Lina. The relationship between Nicole and Duncan is great, I'm glad that she is remaining true to her marriage despite her one infidelity in the pilot.

Heroes - The show is getting better and better, letting Matt have his day and doing a great job with the FBI. Finding out his wife and his partner are getting together behind his back. And punching the partner out. Good, we can finish up Matt and his wife storyline and let Matt get out there helping the other Heroes. Micha being a Hero too. I like his power. And then radiation guy. Does he blow up like an atomic bomb in New York? We shall see. Next week we find out if Claire's creepy Dad is a good guy or a bad guy. He isn't Sylar.

Heroes - I am liking this show more and more. I'm glad I stuck it out. The character development has been great and I like that we are slowly meeting more people with powers. Following the initial seven or eight characters was challenging enough. I really love Niki. It makes sense that Micha would have powers, since both of his parents do. I'm interested in learning more about the genetics of the powers and how that works out.

CSI Miami - I was washing dishes at the beginning of the episode so I missed a part that Allison cried out "Gross!" Pretty standard CSI episode. Wolf is going to let the Documentary folks follow him around. I also fell asleep in the last 15 minutes. So let's just say I didn't follow this episode very well. And when is Kane going to blow up that truck that we keep seeing him do in the commercials?

CSI Miami - This was a good episode. The twists and turns were interesting. I always love watching them solve the mysteries. I'm not sure I love Wolf getting involved with documentary people. I don't think it will end well for him, but who knows what will happen.

Racing for PINKS...

Speedtv.com has this show called PINKS. There is a marathon of PINKS followed by the premiere of PINKS All Out on November 23, 2006. Racers actually race for pink slips. What this means is that the winner owns the losers car. Just liked those movies of the 50s where two toughs race around Dead Man's curve for pink slips. You can check out some sweet Drag Racing Clips at Speedtv.com.

Here is the promo.

For more you can check out the PINKS marathon followed by the premiere of PINKS All Out on Speedtv.com.

I got asked today, "Drew do you ever run out of things to put on the blog?". I mean I have been keeping this blog updated for almost 3 years now and have said many things. I've taken many pictures. Sometimes I have a hard time coming up with something to say each day but when I start typing I just let my stream of consciousness flow. That really drives Allison crazy because she goes back through and fixed the grammatical errors and spelling errors I make. I use spell check but sometimes I fat-finger a word and it gets through.

My mom has been cleaning out one of the rooms in the house and she found this. This is one of my first piggy banks. Doesn't it look like he has a Beatles haircut. He is also shiny from the flash. I love this pig, he has personality. And he probably has about 8 bucks in him at the moment.

So yes sometimes I have a hard time writing about things and some days I come home to find a shiny pig full of coins.

This week's video is not a music one. It seems that music video is no longer searchable through bolt, however you can still find some. The video this week is from Blue collar TV. It has Drew Carey as a guest star in this clip. Talking about Decks.

I got some nice pictures this weekend. Scroll on down and check them out.

ZOPA - Zone of Possible Agreement...

I learned about a new opportunity for online loans of money from peers instead of banks and credit card companies. It is Zopa which stands for Zone of Possible Agreement, Zopa is a peer-to-peer investment/loan system where people borrow from, or lend to, other members of the network. This is a program that has been operation in the UK for some time and will soon be coming to the US.

With this program you can either be a borrower or a lender. If you are a lender you choose a rate, risk level, and time period. Then you transfer your money in. Your money is then lent to borrowers. You can check on your investment to see which borrowers have borrowed your money and how your return is coming along as borrowers repay their loans.

Go to the Zopa website for more information on lending and online loans.

Today Allison and I went to visit Derek and Michelle and baby Nicholas. Nicholas is so cute and he is getting bigger every day. He is such a cute little baby and such a good disposition.

Allison got together some shepherd's pie and some American chop suey to bring over. The fridge and freezer are now completely full.

Neil and Andrea, Mike and Anna and their son Matthew, and Matt and Beth were there too. Neil, Allison and Beth took turns holding Nicholas. I think next visit I will get my chance. Which of course is fine with me, Nicholas is too new and I wouldn't want to be the first one to get a scratch on him. Derek and Michelle are adjusting to parenthood very well and little Coco (their dog) is also adjusting well. She is very protective of the baby too. It is very cute. It was fun to go over and visit for a little while today. Here are a few pictures from the day.

2nd Postie Patrol...

Okay guys, lets get that Big Blue Monster up North. I want the Postie Patrol video where Ted takes on Guy for a pizza eating contest worth $400.00. I watched this and thought to myself, no soda, I would have liked a little Coke to wash my pepperoni pizza down. Guy took the Pepperoni and that would have been my choice too. Sausage, well you know you are not going to get all that down without being sick.

It was good to see the Postie Patrol had many members. Good to Veronique get some time out with the Posties. Here is the Video for your enjoyment.

Photos from Circle of Friends.

Last night Allison and I went to see Ellis Paul and Antje Duvekot at Circle of Friends in Franklin, MA. We got home rather late so I was unable to pull together the pictures to post. I got up this morning and got them ready before Mass. Now I have them on Buzznet and have added the thumbnails here to this post.

The show was alot of fun. It has been long enough between shows that I could really appreciate how much further Antje has come along in her stage presence and confidence. Her storytelling ability has also gotten better and more interesting. Her singing was fantastic as always. I still think that Pearls with the send a little grace ending is way too long and drawn out. But it is one of my favorite songs. Antje also played Long Way and that was the first song of hers I had heard that on WERS.

Ellis had some new stories and a new song or two. He is still so awesome and the show was sold out. There were 350 + people and he kept pointing out how quiet we were. Folks were quiet but there were some folks who were distracting none-the-less. I am talking about people who took flash photos. I do not take flash photos while the show is going on. I took one flash picture before the show to get the mural. After that all of my photos were flash free. I was still approached by one of the people there to not take flash photos. I showed him my camera and that the flash was off. He did finally get the appropriate offender. Ellis played Roll-Away-Bed and we were happy to hear that one. Flynn was also there and he and Ellis played a few songs and then Ellis, Antje and Flynn all colaborated on a song or two.

All in all I would definitely go back to Circle of Friends for another show.

Scoot, Scoot, Scoot, Scoot...

I found a site called Urban Scooters.com and they sell Electric Scooters. An electric scooter is probably a sweet ride if you live in the city or very close to work. Probably at places like New York and the like. Here in Southeastern Mass / Northern Rhode Island an electric scooter is most likely not for me.

However, I spend some time on Cape Cod and the X-Treme XB-5OO Electric bike looks really fun. It rides like a bike or can be totally electric. The 500 watt motor gets up to 18 mph for up to 18 miles on a single charge. That is pretty decent for touring around Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket or even around Falmouth.

Urban Scooters also has parts and accessories, gas scooters, and push scooters.

Scooters are easy transportation to be used around town, they are great for local errands, they are eco-friendly, and virtually noise free.

Today Allison and I went to See Ellis Paul and Antje Duvekot at Circle of Friends in Franklin, MA. The show was great and ran till 11:00pm. We got home about 11:30pm. I have tons of photos from the show and tomorrow I will put together a nice gallery and add them to buzznet for you to see. For tonight here is the Circle of Friends Mural that was behind the stage. We may even do a little He said / She said thing with the review too.

Market like a master...

Donald Trump has a new venture called Trump University Marketing Mastery Program. It is an online program aimed as small business owners to help them increase their marketing prowess. Here is a guy who knows how to market things. He has his own board game, TV show, billion dollar real estate ventures and a brand of water. Can you get much better marketing from someone other than Trump? I think not. Small business owners check out Trump University Marketing Mastery Program.

My Cars die cast car collection is now complete. I found Sarge today. Cars toys are filling the shelves for the release of the Cars movie on DVD next Tuesday.

Allison's Photo-of-the-Week

Here by popular demand (that's you, Andy) is Allison's photo-of-the-week.

It took me an hour and forty minutes to get to work this morning. A good 20 minutes of that was rolling from the second I got on the ramp from Route 1 to 128 until I was able to get off the highway a mile and a half or so later onto 109. Seriously. Then another 25 minutes to get from 109 to Newton Centre. An hour and forty minutes.

The Finalists have been chosen

That is right, for the PayPerPost Wedding three couples have been chosen as finalists. I read the things that each couple has written and I would vote for Jamey and Lauren. And it looks like I was the only one too. I literally was the only voter for Jamey and Lauren for the PayPerPost Wedding. Voting isn't over yet and they could use your help.

The reason I voted for them in the PayPerPost Wedding contest was that they had a pretty rough go of things on all their travels. Since I travel too I feel for their pain. Also with such travel problems they would probably be pretty fun to watch on the live webcast of the PayPerPost Wedding.

Evan Almighty

Okay, the movie doesn't come out till June 22 of next year but the trailer is up and I am looking forward to this movie. I liked Bruce Almighty and I think that Steve Carell will do an even better job as Evan Almighty. The trailer is pretty funny, I was pleasantly surprised by Bruce almighty and hope that this is as good or better.

PPP Message Board

PayPerPost has a message board where Posties can discuss opportunities, their blogs and what is happening at PayPerPost. I used the boards when the Big Blue Monster contest was happening at PayPerPost and I found it very helpful to get additional pieces. During that contest I ended up visiting as many of the other Posties' blogs as I could find, scouring the Internet for puzzle pieces. Had I gone to the PayPerPost Message Board I would have probably saved myself a little time and aggravation. But I didn't use the PayPerPost Forums at that time.

I will check out the PayPerPost Forums from time to time and see what other Posties have going on, it is really fun knowing that some other people are working hard to make a little extra from their blogs through PayPerPost.

Here is another installment of He Said - She Said TV.

My Name is Earl - Roseanne guest starred on this episode and it was rather funny. I loved the little girl at the convent when she deadpanned about being forced out of her home by a pack of starving dogs. Then when she asked Earl if anyone on her list wanted a daughter. Earl and Randy's uncomfortableness around the words "I love you" and Crab Man's love for Mr. turtle. The show continues to be excellent and incredibly funny. I loved Randy in the candle room and the voiceover from Earl about blowing out the candles because he thought they were birthday candles. The Jesus grill cheeses that looked like Earl. The show is priceless.

My Name is Earl - I have to agree with Drew, Roseanne was a riot! Crab Man and his turtle was too cute! But the best was Randy with the prayer candles - I laughed so hard at that scene.

The Office - Just when you thought that Michael couldn't make you any more uncomfortable he goes and proposes to his girlfriend Carol at an Indian Celebration. This was after he told her it was a costume party and she came as a cheerleader. The "costumes" were traditional outfits for Indian people. There were so many great lines in the show. Michael describing how Kelly explained Diwali. Blah Blah Blah in a high pitched voice and then he says, 20 minutes later she explains it is like Indian Halloween. Classic Michael. Jim explaining why he rides a bike to work now and the sweat stains on him. Then Jim getting hammered and trying to ride the bike home was absolutely hilarious. Michael trying to kiss Pam and Pam asking, what are you doing, "Nothing, what are you doing?" Pam- "Refusing your kiss" Awesome.

The Office - I love how Pam is coming into her own and calling Michael out on his ridiculous behavior. She's got such a great delivery. There was no freaking out, no yelling, no talk of sexual harassment cases, just a quiet "Refusing your kiss." Too funny! And her telling Michael that she was going to pull over and let him out if he spoke again - I adore Pam!

CSI - Alan Tudyk guest stars on this episode entitled Burn Out. He plays a pedophile who is trying to reform his life. At least that is what he wants Grissom to believe - that he is a victim in this case. But later we find out that he deliberately set fire to his car, his house and he buried one of the two missing boys. Alan played this role convincingly and was so creepy. It was good to see him on TV again but it is too bad he played a scumbag creep. Not a lot of air time for the secondary players in this episode. I do like that they have an ongoing investigation happening this season, the one with the killer who makes the tiny exact replicas of the crime scenes. That is some weird stuff. I also heard that Liev Schreiber is joining the cast later this season. Nice addition to the show I think. Apparently William Peterson is going to take a small break from the show for a few episodes and Liev Schreiber is going to come in as another investigator. So the move is temporary at this time. This will happen around Jan 12, 2007.

CSI - Alan Tudyk was great in this episode. Such a different character than we are used to seeing from his Firefly/Serenity days. Grissom didn't seem to be on his game - perhaps the name of the episode was hinting at the reason for that... I hope his hiatus will fix that. I would like to know what's up with the relationship with Grissom and Sara - the tease at the end of last season was all we've seen. Not cool! I really love that they are continuing to work on one murder/series of murders throughout the season. For the most part CSI shows have been little stand alone episodes; sure there is character development across episodes, but for the most part you can skip an episode or two and still be up on what's happening. The diorama murders are a great way of tying the episodes to each other.

Labels, return to sender...

Have you ever donated to a worthy cause and then one day you end up with some return address labels from that charity. Well, I have a stack of these things and have been thinking of different uses for them.

One of the best uses I have found for return address labels is to bring them to events like raffles or craft fairs. Why? Well unless you want to spend all your time writing your address on those tiny blue tickets you can simply adhere your return address labels to the tickets. That little trick made it a much better time, we were done with our raffle tickets in no time flat.

Allison makes here own return address labels to send out with the greeting cards that she creates on the computer. We really try to make use of things we have rather than spend a fortune on return address labels for?

Photo-A-Day #573 11/02/06

I bought this pepper about a month ago. It was green then. I wanted to make some sort of sauce or glaze or something for a spicy chicken dish. I never made the dish. So the pepper has just been hanging around the house shriveling up. It was laying next to some avocados that are beginning to look like prunes but the stem of the pepper curled so I hung it from this planter.

It is probably not a smart thing to leave this there over night. Some furry paws may decide to climb up and try and attack the pepper. Of course, once the boys end up taking a bite they will be sorry. But then they'll be mad at us and pee on the couch again. We are up to $60.00 in couch cleaning fees for the cat pee cushions. Now the boys have three litter boxes because the vet said they are getting territorial and one of the boys may be preventing the other from using the litterbox. So now they have two to use and one to visit on occasion, like a vacation home. When the first peeing of the cushion happened I took Oliver to the vet to make sure he didn't have a urinary tract infection. Most likely he did not but he had a round of antibiotics never-the-less.

This past time Allison took both cats to the vet and the doc checked them out, despite having tiny bladders they did not have infections. Rather they are getting to cramped in our small space and need some more room to roam. So they are fighting and claiming territory. Super fun.

so down will come the pepper tonight because the last thing I need are two furry demons with full bladders and burned mouths with a axes to grind on our furniture.

King of Muscle Cars...

Well at least in my eyes, I think the Mustang is the King. It is a fantastic vehicle and the newest version of the Mustang is the best we’ve seen in years. The styling of the new Mustang is about the coolest looking car on the road. I found this blog about the Mustang that shows many modified Mustangs as well as informative articles. Whenever I rrent a car from Hertz I try to get one of the new Mustangs. But now we are with National, so I have to take a lame Taurus most of the time.

Sexy Back is killing me....

Today I spent alot of time working on the videos for the upcoming Marketing Day. One of the videos I am working on is a music video set to the tune of Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back. That song is stuck in my head and will not get out for weeks to come. Marketing day is on the 17th and I don't know how much more I can take. We've got some real fun stuff planned for the day and I am really looking forward to everyone seeing what is in store, especially the videos I've been working on. I'm learning all this great stuff from Adobe Premiere Elements. Things I can apply to future projects of my own. Maybe some Vlogs later on. Who knows. For now, you can watch the video and the song can be stuck in your head too.

Wednesday's TV Recap

Last night Allison and I watched some good TV.

Allison is jumping in here in pink with her thoughts on Wednesday's line up, too. Let us know if you like the He Said/She Said format. Maybe we'll do it occasionally.

Bones: (Glad that World Series is over). We finally got to see Angela and Hodgens go out on a date. Why is Angela pushing him away? They are so good together and he clearly likes her very much. He gave her the best date ever and she was upset. I think that she feels responsible for the death of her past boyfriend and doesn't want to get to close to anyone. Maybe not so much responsible but she may feel that she didn't spend enough time with her previous boyfriend and she doesn't want to go through the loss of another boyfriend again. The "because we work together" thing is lame, there is something deeper there.

Bones: I think Angela is a little hesitant to jump into a relationship with Hodgens because her last boyfriend was murdered, and, if I recall correctly, he wasn't really honest with her about a lot of things - and she's probably afraid of getting hurt. I think it has the potential to be really awkward with them working together since they work so closely at the Smithsonian. The tension between them makes for great television though!

Lost: This was a Eko-centric episode and *spoiler*: It looks like it will be the last one too. Why the heck did they kill off Eko, his story is unfinished and is very interesting. Did he go to London, did he meet up with another Lostie there? Is Juliet actually helping Jack? Are we making way for new Lostie woman and new Lostie man? Who are they and what is their story, are they a couple? I loved seeing the return of John Locke as a leader with clear direction. Why did the guy on the TV set look like Spangler from Malcolm in the Middle? All in all it was a good episode and I liked seeing more backstory on Eko.

Lost: I think the new Losties are a couple, it will be interesting to learn more about them. For the time being, I find her annoying! And Drew is right, the guy on the TV set looked like Spangler. This was a great episode. The end just left me staring blankly. I couldn't even come up with a reaction.

The Nine: Did you really think that they would say Eva had something to do with the robbery. No thank you. I get a kick out of Egan and I want to know more about Lucas and the daughter of the Bank Manager. I was happy to see Malcolm stand up for what is right. There is a lot of courage in that man and it will be brought out in further episodes. I like seeing the Wings guy in a tougher role, flawed but tougher. I like him better on The Nine than I had on Wings.

The Nine: I'm loving this show. I really feel like the viewer can relate to Felicia - she knows very little of the events of the 52 hours they were trapped in the bank and neither do we, since the show is taking place after the hostage situation ended. I, too, am happy that Malcolm is doing the right thing. He's a good man. I do have to say that I don't love Franny. I think she's kind of annoying and I feel like she's holding something back. Shady.

Ted's Confessional

PayPerPost has let us put up an opportunity to repost Ted's Confessional. Ted talks about his struggles with weight and what he did to lose weight.

I myself have been up and down over the years. 5 years ago I was in the best shape ever. Then I started to travel... Traveling allowed me an expense account and the access to fast food, steaks aplenty and not much working out. I recently joined a gym and have begun to go. I was doing it on a fairly regular basis while I was home. Then I went on the road again for two weeks straight. Anyway the struggle continues.

Ted calls himself a fat kid, skinny by has nothing on me. However I do agree with the hotel gyms. They are terrible, something is always broken.

Anyway see for yourself.

Photo-A-Day #572 11/01/06

Today I worked on some videos for work. We have a special day coming up and there are some fun videos that are going to be part of it. Since I have some skill with Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements I volunteered to help out. This afternoon we took a video of my friend Megan. She was supposed to be a glamorous and fabulous marketing specialist in this video. I was the paparazzi photographer. When we were done we saw that the video wasn't as good as expected but the pictures came out great. So I took the pictures and put them in order and make a fun video out of the pictures. I think that will work out well.

I;m not sure if Megan wants to make her Photo-A-Day debut, so she is hiding. The car was wicked sweet too. A convertible BMW sports car.
