Photo-A-Day #386 04/29/06 Bonus Picture - Christopher Williams
Allison and I went to see Christopher Williams at the Mt. Zion Christian School in Bedford, NH. He opened for Jars of Clay.
It was great to see Christopher with the energy of a huge crowd around him. He was awesome tonight. So many great songs and one new one that was fantastic and so moving. He certainly knows how to write meaningful beautiful songs. If you have never seen him go out and see him when he is playing in your area.
I took a bunch of pictures from this show. Check em Out.

I don't think Tara is getting this camera back. I've had so much fun taking pictures with it. The detail is fantastic.
Today we hung out with Dan and Marcia, did some yardwork and got out the garden decorations. This is a birdhouse roof. I got tons of pictures of the cats too but I uploaded them to Flickr. I've just posted way too many cat photos as of late. However with Tar's camera I can capture way better actions shots like Bonnie and Clyde jumping a couple feet in the air.
Check out the other photos here.

Antje Duvekot had her CD release party (tonight) last night at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. Allison got us tickets for my birthday. It was a concert for Antje's CD release Big Dream Boulevard and she opened for Ellis Paul. Ellis had Don Conoscenti, Flynn and another guy whose name I cannot accurately remember. It was funny because it was the most unpronounceable cast of characters last evening.
The show was fantastic. It was so awesome to see Antje and her band which included Austin Nevins.
Allison and I had dinner at Not Your Average Joes in Arlington and then took the T to Davis Square. It was quick and painless for our in and out of the city. Dinner at Joes was very good, I got a great meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and Allison had a teriyaki steak with a pineapple salsa, both were very good meals.
We had terrific seats at the concert and enjoyed the show thoroughly.
I borrowed my sister's camera. It is a Nikon D70 Digital SLR Camera. Man, what an awesome camera. I'll be posting the pictures from (tonight) last night in a few moments. I can't wait to get myself one of these cameras. Oh and there will be more cat pictures later too because I can take photos of Bonnie and Clyde today.
Here are the rest of the pictures from the concert.
Here are some random shots of Allison and flowers that I took with the D70.

There's nothing to it but to do it!
Speaking of Andy's motto, that is what the book Getting Things Done boils down to. Taking that next action step toward becoming productive. I finished Getting Things Done yesterday and have begun to implement some of the practices already. I've also handed the book off to Peter. So I'm trying to recruit more folks who believe that 'There's nothing to it but to do it!" Thanks Wes and Thanks David Allen.
I'm feeling so productive that I may try and get Oliver into a hat with some pink lemonade. (See Andy's comments about yesterday's photo-a-day.)

My new addiction. Dungeon Siege II. I love this game just as I loved the origina Dungeon Siege. The Bard's Tale I finished about a month or so ago, it was pretty fun. It was much better for dialogue and whatnot but action is so much better on Dungeon Siege II.

Oliver, again.
Not much to say today.
Except, why does the waitress ask me if Pink Lemonade is okay if I ask for Lemonade? I mean it isn't like there is a difference between Lemonade and Pink Lemonade except for the color. It's not like this is Coke and Pepsi we're talking about here. There is no hidden taste test between Lemonade and Pink Lemonade. I just don't understand the need for the question.

Tonight Allison and I and Tara and Erik went to see The Legend of Lucy Keyes at the Boston Independent Film Festival. Ellis Paul and Flynn both contributed songs to the movie and that is what got Allison and I interested in this about a year ago. Tara had heard about the movie about 4 years ago on Chronicle and she was excited to see it.
The movie was very good, especially for an independent film, there was some very nice cinematography, and the story was also interesting. It was filmed in Princeton MA, which was were the legend originated. More specifically, it was filmed on the backside of Wachusett Mt.
Erik drove us into Boston and we had dinner at the Border Cafe over near Harvard Square. After dinner we took the T over to Davis Square and got our tickets and found some seats. The Somerville Theatre is an very interesting place. Very old and detailed, there is a balcony and it is also where we are going to see Ellis Paul and Antje Duvekot for Antje's CD release party.
If you were unable to see the movie at the film festival dont worry the movie was sold to Lifetime and will be shown in August. A DVD is also in the works. After the film the Director and writer of the movie John Stimpson as well as some of the cast including all the little girls that played the various roles of the Lucys and their sisters. Stimpson wove together a very good story and created some excellent characters with an actual legend of the disappearance of a young girl in the 1700s. It was suspenseful as well as humorous and thrilling at times. There were some parts that were slow but as the legend was slowly discovered it picked up momentum to an intense conclusion.

Today Allison and I went to IKEA in Stoughton. Here is Allison looking fabulous in a tiny kitchen for an office.
What an enormous place IKEA was. We wandered around for about 3 hours. We found many things that we would like for remodeling our new place, when we get one. We however were so overwhelmed with the choices that we just took some catalogs and spent money only on lunch when we went in and a snack as we left.
After that just to get depressed by the prices we walked around Jordan's. What a difference in price. Scary. We did sit in those massaging chairs for about 20 minutes while we were there and that was pretty cool.
Air Travel is fun.
Air travel is fun... if you really enjoy standing in line with a bunch of clueless aggravated people who can't understand basic instruction. But it is not the travelers that are ruining air travel, that honor goes to the airlines. I fly out of Providence through U.S. Air, now that American has pulled out of T.F. Green, thanks for nothing American Airlines. U.S. Air is terrible! They have small planes, and inefficient check in system and pretty much anyone working at airline check in is on a power trip. Honestly you give someone with a crappy job a little bit of power and they squeeze every bit of power possible. Not to mention the tons of flights I have been on this year haven't amounted to squat in terms of any status. I think I need 5 more segments to get to the 1st tier of their status structure. That is 30 segments, 5 more than you need for status from American. I know I can get equal status across airlines but I'll already be at the Silver status by the time the paperwork goes through.
Air Travel is fun.
Wednesday’s travel.
I'm in the G terminal of Washington Dulles airport and if you have ever been here then you may appreciate what a fuster cluck this place is. One of the most messed up things is the gate attendants who make announcements barely speak English.
Well, I was just interrupted by the call for my flight to Buffalo just to walk down the jet way to find that there was no jet for us. So we were sent back into the terminal to wait, absolutely a mess.
Air Travel is fun.
Back to my earlier point: English as a second language should really not be an on the job training exercise when your main function is to TALK to people, especially if the people listening to you need to have the information that you are providing. It is bad enough trying to hear over the din of the other travelers, but trying to decipher the Gibber-English is too much to contend with.
Air Travel is fun.
While waiting for the actual jet to arrive I listened to some woman lose her mind. She exploded in rage about taking a voluntary bump and then realizing she wasn't going to get where she wanted to on time. Chalk that one up to "Open your ears." If you don't understand what comes with taking a voluntary bump then it probably isn't for you. Leave that to the folks who have a clue.
Air Travel is fun.
Friday's Travel.
Before I got to the airport I stopped at Wing City Grille for lunch. I got a Mexican sampler that had Cajun wings, mini tacos, chicken quesadilla and tortilla chips with guacamole. But I was torn between that and some wings; I mean the place is called Wing City. I did also order some mini chicken tenders called chicken lips and they let me try a few of the wing sauces. I choose Key Lime, Spicy Peanut Butter and Raspberry inferno. They have a sauce that you have to sign a waiver to eat. I wasn't about to inflict that on myself or the folks on the plane.
The verdict, I could have skipped the Mexican plate, which was not good. However the chicken lips and sauces were excellent. Key Lime was pretty much lime and frank's red hot sauce; it was such an unexpected good taste. The Cajun wings were probably my favorite. They had a perfectly balanced flavor. The Spicy Peanut Butter was very good and had a sweet and slightly fruity bite. Raspberry inferno was very much a shock. It started of sweet and fruity and then the heat totally kicked in. I asked the waitress what other sauces I had to try, she brought me Buffalo Ranch, predictable taste and no great and special experience there. What was a good experience was the Lasagna Ice Cream. It has a chocolate cookie base and then a layer of vanilla and a layer of chocolate then whipped cream and cookie crumbs and chocolate sauce, it was so good.
Well, I am at the airport now. I’m in buffalo awaiting my first flight of the day which is Buffalo to Pittsburgh. Getting through security here was no sweat, a long line but it kept moving, they had someone directing people to the rows of screeners and were not letting people mash right on top of each other which was nice. I did not feel rushed or annoyed that the person in front of me was taking too long because they hadn’t been to an airport in the past 10 years. However the person behind me had no sense of personal space. Each time we stopped in line she would bump into me. Not a big bump, just enough to let me know she was still there. Thanks but I could sense that you were there without the confirmation. Then when we got to the screener she went around me and got a grey bucket to put her stuff in. What the heck! I am in no way a slow person at the screener. I have a very efficient system. Roll-aboard down on the table. A quick zip and out comes the laptop and into a grey bucket in one smooth motion, down goes the backpack on the table, right leg comes up and I slip of the right shoe, then I do the same with the left, sometimes in mid stride. Nothing comes out of my pockets because in the parking lot I stash my wallet, keys, phone and belt in the backpack. I take out my credit card for the self check in and my license for identification. Bing bang boom and I am out of there. I am like the NASCAR pit crew of security lines. I should be giving lessons on this to frequent travelers; I see many who need my help.
Air Travel is fun.
Things all seem to work out in the end. I was at the Buffalo airport and was paged over the loudspeaker. Apparently my flight to Pittsburgh was delayed and they rerouted me through Philly. I got home a half hour early. So sometimes air travel actually works in your favor.

This is the James Pendergrast Free Library. I like the old brick look of the place as well as the look of the church in the background. I am in the Holiday Inn lobby getting some free wireless before I head back up to Buffalo to catch my flights. Interesting place this is, nice and all but I'm ready to head home.

I am in Jamestown New York, there is a little village near Jamestown called Celoron and the claim to fame is that is the birthplace of Lucille Ball. There is the Lucille Ball Memorial park that has a sign and a chainsaw carved statue of Lucy. The Statute is being auctioned on E-Bay later this week or month. The reason is so that the town can raise the additional $10,000 it needs for the Desi Arnaz Band Shell. The statue has been in the park for 5 years. It was commissioned for a visit from Lucy Arnaz, daughter of Lucille Ball. There is a Lucille Ball museum around her somewhere but I couldn't find it. Actually I only tried to find the park, the Jamestown Harley shop and a restaurant that one of the guys from the demo recommended. I was able to find all of that. Museum, no.
Here are some bonus pictures.

Had a great dinner here. Nice little family run place. Had some great onion soup and small corn and bacon muffins. Good stuff. Got to my next location rather late, need to set up for tomorrow's demonstrations. Quick blog tonight.
And a bonus picture, yeah you know it is onion soup and Yuengling Lager.

Took the mini tripod to the Shenandoah National Park today. Took many more pictures. I'll be posting them later. I drove through 50 miles of the park up to the Big Meadows visitor center. As I turned into the parking lot there were three deer there. I was unable to get a shot of them because I had cars behind me and couldn't get the chance to take it before the took off.

Easter Vigil at the Abbey Church
I also ran into some of my former Resident Assistants. These guys worked for me when I was an Assistant Resident Hall Director. It was very nice to run into Brian and Willie (Bill). They were up for the annual Easter retreat that alumni and students can participate in at the Abbey Church.
The Easter Vigil ceremony was excellent. I had never been because I was always home during Easter. It was very nice to be up here for the celebration. I had forgotten about "The Saint Anselm Pause". When the congregation responds at a Saint Anselm mass there is a long pause between the end of the reading and the actual response. It really throws some people off who are used to responding to the readings right away. You can always catch someone who hasn't been to a mass at Saint A's because they respond right away and about 30 seconds later the rest of the church says the response. After mass we said hello to Abbot Matthew and Fr. Peter. Fr. Mathias was not there and neither was Fr. Jerome.
Happy Easter everyone!

Allison and Clyde having a good time. Clyde is a jumper, he jumps so much higher than the height he is at in this picture. However with the stutter step that a digital camera has I cannot capture this feat. Well, I probably could but Clyde would have died of exhaustion by the time I timed it correctly. He doesn't know when to stop playing.
We are up in NH for Easter. Having a gang here tomorrow at Dan and Marcia's. Happy Easter everyone!

The flowers are blooming around the house. Spring is here.
Today I did very little exciting. I caught Wes Molebash's interview with The Gigcast.
Today is Good Friday and I've tried to stick to the whole, no meat on Friday thing even though I have my own opinions about it. But hey it isn't hurting me any to have fish or no meat on Friday. So today they had a Fried Seafood and fries lunch. The sign next to it had a bunch of lillies on a bible. I was thinking to myself, where is my camera and also I bet the guy who makes the signs was itching to use that clip art. But when to use it.... when would it be appropriate?

Cats, everywhere I look there they are. They woke me up at 3:30am because they wanted to be in our room and they rattled the door like crazy. They can get their paws under the doors in our house and pull on them with such force that they rattle the whole door. Now they have learned to work as a team to openthe door from our living room to Tara's room. One of the cats gets his paws under the door and the other gets on the arm of the couch and uses both paws to bang on the doorknob till it turns and they quickly escape. We are now keeping a workout ball wedged between the door and the couches. This has prevented further escapes.
I worked from home today and the cats wouldn't leave me alone. They like to walk in front of the keyboard. I found Oliver's eyes to be fascinating. They are constantly moving and changing. So I got a picutre of one of his eyes. Then I figured that they needed to play so I got out the feather and bell on a stick and entertained them. I couldn't pick just one of the shots so I mixed four of them.

During a break at the Trade Show today I took a walk in the woods. Saw this tree, took this picture and was inspired to do some raking in the backyard after work. I filled 5 contractors bags of leaves and dead grasses. Summer feels right around the corner and I want to get the backyard back into shape so we can enjoy it with our friends.
Happy Birthday Mo!
Here's a couple of pictures of the wonderful Maureen at our wedding (courtesy of Becky). And no complaints Mo, I still have some Saint A's pictures I can dig up. :-) And I'm sure you have some on me so we don't want to begin the Cold War of embarassing pictures.
A first ever for Guy's Night
After our meal we each played some video games, I took on a few of the shooter games, despite being the least thrilled about the prospect of guns. And I am a decent video game shot. Neil and I were supposed to play the game below but the machine ate one of our tokens and made it only a one player game. But then while we were standing around, after Neil gave the worst mission performance ever, I noticed that you could hit the continue button and try other missions. I made it through the next 5 missions while Derek pointed out that I was a crack shot despite the aversion to guns. What can I say, all those years of Duck Hunt groomed me well for a little useless talent. Neil and Derek played air hockey and I believe that it was a blowout with Neil cleaning up. Then Neil and Derek played a racing game which Neil won, I myself would have not been able to get into the top 10 in the race because I tend to drive very erratically in a video game where I am 'Mr 10 and 2' (as Allison and my sisters have dubbed me) on the road. Here are some pictures from guy's night.
Neil makes it to victory lane.
I think we know their feelings on this game. I on the other hand played quite well to Derek's disbelief.
We did agree that it was time to go do something soon witht he wives. So hopefully the Blue Dog Sports Bar and Grille opens we go and do a night as a group.

Ball? Ball? Where is the ball?
Taylor is looking for her tennis ball. She loves playing ball. She can even catch it in the air very often. She even has the big hard orange ball that she chases around the back yard like a demon. I had to take it away so she didn't pass out from all the exertion.
Here are some bonus pictures too.
Eagerly anticipating the throw, notice the blur on the tail.

The first photo of my 32nd year. 2nd year of Photo-A-Day and 32nd year of life. Yep, I turned 32 today. Spent the day taking my uncle down to the Cape to see my grandparents and then back to have dinner at Fortune House with Mom & Dad, Tara, Shelby, Uncle Jim and of course my lovely wife, Allison. The folks at Fortune House brought us a scoop each of mango ice cream and mine had a cherry and a candle on it. They then sang Happy Birthday to me in English and then Chinese. Then we came home and had Oreo cookie ice cream pie. Another day older than I was when I had been 31.
While I was at the Cape I went over to check out the house and then walked along the beach to take picutres and as I passed the little pond I saw this boat. I liked it so I took it for today's picture. Here's a bonus Picture
One year of Photo-A-Day
During this project I impressed certain rules upon myself.
- The image had to be taken that day. I broke this once for an important reason.
- The image had to be posted on the day it was taken.
- I had to take the image.
During this next year I will try to adhere to these rules as well as I can but I may allow myself to be in more images so if someone else takes the image I may post that, I haven’t decided if I will do that or not. I do have a tripod and the ability to set the timer on the camera so that may be the way I get into pictures.
I have met some great people online who also do Photo-A-Day.
- Christopher Williams
- Kym Rohman
- Amy Sue VanDerWerf
- Lisa Spodak The best Photo-A-Day Layout ever. And she is fundraising for a great cause.
- Annie Mentzer
- Gabrielle Krupnick
- My friend Becky – She has a great eye.
- Jamie
- Kevin Michael
- David
And then there were some people who helped me during Guest Photo-A-Day week while Allison and I were on our honeymoon.
- Day One – Christopher Williams
- Day Two – Lisa Spodak
- Day Three - Andy - AKA andycamp
- Day Four - Kym Rohman
- Day Five – Matt – My cousin an artist and drummer.
- Day Six – Mo – Of We’re In a fight
- Day Seven – Wes Molebash – Of You’ll Have That
- Day Eight - Gabrielle
- Day Nine - Kostika
These folks were great to help me out when I had no way of posting in Aruba. I posted my images when I returned just so I could complete a full year, I figured it would be cheating if I had skipped nine whole days. Cheating in my own self imposed rules.
I haven’t quite figured out what to do with all of these images. I kept a copy of each for the whole year and when 2006 rolled around I kept a copy of the original file as well. The images are all 450px X 350px at 96dpi. This doesn’t translate well to printing the pictures. So I started keeping the originals as well so that If I ever wanted to do something with the images I could do so.
Are you ready to take the Photo-A-Day challenge? If so please let me know where your images will reside and I will link to you. Here’s to another year of photos.

Congratulations go out to my friend Autumn. She is my oldest friend, we lived two houses down from each other when I lived in Attleboro and she just won the Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts Pageant! We recently got back in touch with each other through Myspace. So huge Kudos and Congratulations to Autumn on her win. She now goes on to compete in the National Ms. Wheelchair Pageant!
Fundraisers will be coming and if you want to help Autumn out raising funds for the national competition let me know and I'll put you in touch with her.

One year of Photo-A-Day complete.
today we visited Allison's grandparents John and Eva and had lunch with them and Marcia and Dan. Then we went and visited Bob and Jackie. After our day in Fitchburg we headed to Medway to an open house at Andy and Rondi's. We got there early and had pizza before the folks in the neighborhood came by. Andy and Rondi got to use their new firepit and I played park ranger. We made smores and watched the neighborhood kids play manhunt and the dogs play games with each other too. Andy made a new flavor of ice cream too, this time he made a chocolate base with chocolate covered pretzels and white chocolate chips. Some good stuff Andy.
Photo-A-Day finishes out year one with a photo taken with the timer on the lamp setting in front of the fire pit. I had to lighten it a bit so you could tell who everyone was, Me, Allison, Rondi and Andy. Tomorrow I'm 32 and year #2 of Photo-A-Day begins.

Dentist's Chair, round 2. Yep, had an appointment this morning, found 2 cavities, back this afternoon. This is the view I had for about 2 hours total today. Andy, I hope this image doesn't cause you to get ill. I snapped this shot while we were waiting for the novicane to start kicking in. It took two tries and now he right side of my mouth is very very numb and will be for about 6 hours. Fun, fun.
Andy, I feel your pain...
I also got the sugar interrogation treatment. Are you eating this, this and this. Do you drink soda? Yes. (a gasp!) Diet, sugar free? No. (The hygenist faints.) It is hard not to feel like you are being interrogated when they have you lying down and poke metal scraping objects into your mouth. I'll tell them anything to make them stop. It is like someone running their fingernails on a chalkboard, IN YOUR HEAD! Not fun.
What to do with my pictures..
Having them too close together may be distracting.

Tonight Allison and I went to see Christopher Williams play drums for Jake Armeding. Jake was also joined by Zach Hickman of the Josh Ritter Band.
I must have taken about 100 pictures but without using a flash it was very hard to get one where each guy was in focus. This was the only one. We had the front row, a great thing about seeing a show at a college, college kids hate the front row of everything, like classrooms and such.
The show was alot of fun and we spoke with Susanne Williams after the show, it was nice to hang out and talk with her. We bought one of Jake's CD's, we are all caught up on Christopher's CD's.
Today I made a few ticket purchases. We are going to see Catie Curtis at TCAN on May 12, Christopher with Jars of Clay on April 29th and the Legend of Lucy Keyes movie on April 23rd. And Allison got me tickets to see Ellis Paul and Antje Duvekot on April 28th. Lots of Concerts and events coming up.

Today at 1:00am was the only time in 1000 years that it was 01:02:03 04/05/06. Pretty interesting bit of trivia.
So Oliver has been found, he was hiding with my parents and woke my Dad up at 3:00am so he put Oliver back in our apartment. Then Oliver came and woke us up. Since we had been away I let them spend time with us last night, unfortunately they don't stop moving around so they kept waking us up. It is out of the bedroom for the two of them tonight.

We returned home from Disney today. This morning we packed up and then took some pictures around the hotel, this was the centerpiece of the pool.
Disney's Magical Express was everything it promised to be. We checked in to our flight at the hotel and that included checking of our bags. Everything worked out very well, I would reccommend this to anyone.
Neil picked us up from the airport and we took Neil and Andrea to Box Seats for dinner. Thanks so much for the ride Neil.
We are now home and looking for Oliver, he and Duncan pushed open the door between our apartment and the main house and they both got out. Duncan turned up and was put back in the apartment by my mom but Oliver is somewhere in the house but he's not coming out yet.

The Disney In-line 1/2 Marathon was a blast. What is needed for the next trip would be a pace car so I can leave when I'm finished rather than wait for the buses to arrive 2 hours later. The official time in which I finished was 1:27:04, much better than I had anticipated. The new equipment was perfect, I've never felt better skating, I can imagine how good I would have felt had I trained. I caught up with Allison in Epcot. We called it and early night and got pizza delivery to the room.
I did it!
I finished the Disney 1/2 Marathon in 1 hour and 28 minutes. What a fun morning. I met a Disney cast member and skated with her for about 4 miles. She is a training leader for new cast members. I asked about becoming a photographer for Disney, my dream job. More skaters need to come with us next year.

Today we hit the Disney MGM Studios first thing then over to Wide World of Sports to register for tomorrow's in-line marathon. We each got free wrist and knee pad sets from K2. We had lunch at All Star Sports Cafe and then back to MGM to hit a few more rides. Then off to Animal kingdom to go on safari and to Expedition Everest.
